A Spanish Mustang is all the horse you will ever need!
We prefer to import to order - You choose the horse, we do the work - However, we will from time to time be bringing in horses that we like and offer some for sale.
When you see a horse that you like either on our site, or on one of the American breeder's sites, let us know and we will arrange the import for you. If you don't see what you like, but have a definite idea of what you want, we can help you find it.
If you decide to use our import service , it is fully comprehensive:
Stage One:
You tell us what sort of Spanish Mustang you are looking for (ie. color, sex, size, temperament), and if he/she is out there and for sale, we will find him/her for you. We will contact various breeders in the US and initially get photos and information on horses matching your criteria. You choose which one you like most. We will then request up to date digital photographs or video footage of the horse.
Stage Two:
You sign a contract with Spanish Mustangs UK, pay a deposit*, the horse is secured with the breeder in the USA and a veterinary pre-purchase exam is requested.
Stage Three:
After making a definite decision that that is the horse you want, we pay the breeder the full price. We arrange for the horse to be collected and taken either to a trainer (if you choose to have your horse fully saddle trained in the US), or to a quarantine facility for 30 days and booked on a flight. The registration/ breeding papers are then applied for to arrive in time for the import in the UK. The second payment becomes due as the horse enters quarantine. We recommend you take out adequate insurance to cover your horse during transit. Acting purely as your agent, Spanish Mustangs UK can take no responsibility for loss or injury of the horse once it has left the breeder.
Stage Four:
You are advised of the flight date of your horse and the planned** arrival date of the horse at your stables. You will also receive a report on your horse's welfare during the quarantine period. All payments, including our fee, have to be settled in full at time of delivery.
Stage Five:
The horse is delivered to your stable, or if you wish, you can collect it from us in Suffolk.
We guarantee that we will only buy horses that are sound, of good confirmation and disease free.
Cost:
You may ask yourself at this stage...What will it all cost? That largely depends on which horse you choose. The average unbroken 2-3 year old would be delivered for approximately £4500 all in. That includes all transport, incl. flight, vet checks, quarantine, customs clearance, VAT, and transport to your stable. It does not include saddle training in the US, which has to be paid for separately, if required.

* The deposit is generally non-refundable, so you need to be sure you want us to proceed with the purchase of the horse. However, if there is a valid reason for you rejecting a previously chosen horse (ie conformational faults, illness, or injuries that come to light during the veterinary health check), we will endeavor to find a replacement that you like, or issue a refund for the deposit.
* *The arrival date and time of the horse at your premises can be subject to change, depending on Channel crossings, weather, and traffic conditions.
Things to consider when you import a Spanish Mustang:
1. Do you have the right environment? Commonly these horses have grown up running in a herd on many acres. They will let themselves be stabled, but may not be 100% happy in a stable full time. So daily turn-out is a must, ideal is living out full time. A companion would also help them to settle in.
2. They will require a period of acclimation, usually 14-30 days.
3. Most of the Spanish Mustangs available for sale in the US are not saddle trained. All of them will be halter trained and well handled, due to having been in quarantine. Do you have the experience to bring them on? If not we can help you find a trainer, either in the US or here in the UK.
Note: We love horses and their welfare is paramount. Spanish Mustangs UK will not import a horse for a person whose intent is doubtful, or if we think the horse will suffer or be abused in any way. Potential homes may be vetted before we enter into a contract with you.
